2012 Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Egg HuntUnited Community Bank and the Towns County Recreation Department in Hiawassee, Georgia is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for all children ages 4 – 9 on April 7, 2012 at 10:30 AM. The hunt will take place at the Towns County Recreation ball fields. The entrance to the ball fields is through the upper gate located near the Georgia Mountain Fair office. Easter Celebration at the Ridges

Easter BunnyThe Oaks Restaurant at the Ridges Resort and Marina in Young Harris, Georgia will be serving a delightful Easter buffet on April 24, 2011 from 10 AM to 5 PM. You can expect many of your holiday favorites to be included!

Children 12 and under are invited to participate in the Eggstravaganza which starts at 2 PM. Goody filled eggs will be hidden for them to find on the lawn of the Ridges Resort.

Easter EggsBring your children to the Towns County Recreation Dept. ball fields on Highway 76 in Hiawassee, Georgia on April 23, 2011 at 10:30 AM for a fun morning searching for Easter eggs! Over 300o eggs will be hidden for them to find. There will be 2 age divisions – 4, 5, 6 year olds and 7, 8, 9 year olds. Children 3 and under can enjoy a special activity with the Easter Bunny.

Mountain Christmas Tour of Homes

Christmas CardCelebrate the Christmas season through the Arts by touring 8 beautifully decorated homes with artisans demonstrations on December 3 – 5, 2010. The decorator’s show house is a holiday home festively decorated by the local area’s designers. Hours for the tour on Saturday are 10 AM to 6 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 5 PM. A reception will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Ridges Resort and Marina from 5 PM to 7 PM. Tickets are $25 per person with a portion of the proceeds going to the Towns County Food Pantry. Discounted group tickets are available.

Christmas Concert

Christmas sheet musicThe Mountain Community Chorus will be performing their Christmas concert with music from around the world on December 3 and 5, 2010. The event takes place in the Glenn Auditorium at Young Harris College. Showtimes are 8 PM on Friday, December 3, 2010, and 3 PM on Sunday, December 5, 2010. Admission is free with donations being accepted.

The Mountain Community Chorus was started in 1974 as a way to bring choral music to the mountains. It is directed by William H. Fox, the head of the music department at Young Harris College.

Fright Light Laser Concert

As Halloween is nearing, you can have a spine tingling good time watching the laser lights dancing and stars spinning to some great “monster music” at the O. Wayne Rollins Planetarium in Young Harris. There will be 2 evening performances on October 22, 2010, one at 7 PM and one at 8 PM.

If loud music, flashing lights or other similar effects disturb you, you may want to skip this show.

Night Creatures on the Phantom Trail

HalloweenBe prepared to be scared as you hike the Phantom Trail at Brasstown Valley Resort and Spa. As you begin your journey in the dark and eerie Brasstown Stables and step out into the night, you never know what may be lurking. The path will be open to any brave soul on October 23 -24, and 29 – 31, 2010 from 7:30 until the last scream. Hikes depart every quarter hour.

There will be hayrides and ghoulish treats available for those who prefer to not be spooked. This hike is quite frightening and parental discretion is advised. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent.
