Enjoy a blast from the past with the Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-In taking place at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds on August 12, 13, and 14, 2010. So many fun things will be happening that you won’t want to miss a minute of it! There will be hundreds of great classic cars and hot rods on display, plenty of great country food and music, craft booths, folk art displays and a giant swap meet with auto vendors available to help you get those hard to find auto parts. As part of the Moonshine Cruiz-In, don’t miss the “Haulin’ Mash Kick Off Bash” being held at and hosted by The Ridges Resort on Lake Chatuge on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 4 PM to 10 PM. Bring your hot rods and join in! There will be food, drink, and tours of Lake Chatuge on pontoon boats. Bring your dancin’ shoes and get your body moving to the sounds of the live country music playing throughout the evening. The festivities continue on the fairgrounds throughout the day on Friday, August 13, 2010, and the party continues in the evening in downtown Hiawassee with a parade and street dance beginning at 5 PM.
On Saturday night, August 14, 2010, two legendary bands, The Swinging Medallions and The Drifters will appear together in concert at the Anderson Music Hall inside the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds starting at 7 PM. Tickets for the concert are a separate fee and available at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds, with a discount available if you have a car registered in the show.

The Union County Historical Society is hosting a series of concerts every Friday night until November, 2010 in the historic Union County Courthouse in nearby downtown Blairsville, Georgia. The weekly shows begin at 7 PM. There will be a different band featured every week with music ranging from Bluegrass to Easy Listening. All shows are free and the musicians donate all of their time and talents to help the Union County Historical Society keep the tradition of music in the courthouse alive. Any voluntary donations for the maintenance fund will be accepted and appreciated.

Don’t miss country music artist Blake Shelton in concert at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds on July 16, 2010.
Blake Shelton moved to Nashville in 1994 right out of high school with hopes of becoming a country music star. In a dream come true, his debut single, “Austin”, reached #1 on the billboard charts and stayed there for 5 weeks. He has since enjoyed the success of several gold albums, while his latest project is a 6 song album titled Hillbilly Bone, whose title track is accompanied by fellow country star Trace Adkins and is seeing the fastest rising release of Blake’s career.
Tickets go on sale June 4, with prices of $35 and $45 depending on preferred seating. The concert will be held at the air conditioned indoor Anderson Music Hall at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds in Hiawassee, Georgia and is sure to be a great performance!

Start your Independence Day weekend out with Ray Stevens at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds. Ray Stevens is an award winning singer, songwriter and recording artist who is known for some of his songs like “The Streak”, “Everything is Beautiful” and “It’s Me Again Margaret” just to name a few. He will be performing on July 3, 2010, at 7 PM at Anderson Hall. Tickets are $40 and $30 with a $2 handling fee.

The Blairsville Scottish Festival and Highland Games kick off on Friday, June 11, 2010 with the Kilted Golf Classic at the Butternut Creek Golf Course. Registration for the golf tournament begins Friday at 8 AM. Continue the celebration Friday evening with a Ceilidh Dinner – a buffet dinner, entertainment, and fellowship being held at the First United Methodist Church – Methodist Activities Center. The dinner is from 7 – 9 PM and seating is limited so get your tickets now!
Saturday, June 12, 2010 begins a whole day of fun and games at Meeks Park on Highway 515 in Blairsville. Gates open at 8 AM and games and other events begin at 9 AM. The opening ceremony will be held at 12 noon on the main field and events will continue throughout the day until 5 PM. The evening will end with a special concert by Barleyjuice beginning at 7:30 PM. Tickets for the concert are just $5 each for adults, children under 12 are FREE.
The festival and games continue at Meeks Park on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Gates open at 8 AM and a Worship service followed by Kirkin’ of the Tartans will begin at 9 AM. All athletics and other events will start at 10 AM. Closing ceremonies start at 3 PM and the festival closes at 5 PM.
